Obituary for Peggy J. Harkey Dateline: Bethalto, Illinois Peggy J. Harkey, 83, of Bethalto passed away at 12:50 pm on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Jerseyville Community Hospital. She was born on September 29, 1934 in Advance, MO to Roy and Marie (Millstead) Creel. On June 9, 1949 she married Walter Harkey in Picken, AR.

He survives. Peggy was a member of the 1st Southern Baptist Church in Meadowbrook. She was also a machine operator at Olin for 39 years before retiring.

She is survived by her husband Walter Harkey of Bethalto, IL; three sons, Mike (Kellye ) Harkey, Dennis (Penny) Harkey, and Larry Harkey all of Bethalto; 10 grandchildren, Jim (Shelia) Hall, Greg (Sandi) Harkey, Kelley (Steve) Sherwood, Roy (Sarah) Jarman, Michael (Leta) Harkey, Eric (Cassie) Harkey, Joshua Harkey, Chadd Harkey, Dylan Harkey, and Emma Moore; and several great grandchildren. Peggy was preceded in death by daughter, Joyce Marie Jarman. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 9:30- 11:00 am at the 1st Southern Baptist Church in Meadowbrook.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 11:00 am at the church, with Pastor Kevin Auten officiating. Burial will take place at Rose Lawn Memory Garden in Bethalto. .
