Peggy’s Obituary Peggy Kirk Miller went to be with her Lord and Maker on Monday February 18, 2019. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, February 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Beck’s Reformed Church with Pastor Ben Greene and Pastor Steve Regan officiating. Family visitation will be held before the service from 1:00 to 2:00 in the church sanctuary and other times at the home.

Peggy was born June 19, 1930 to the late Cecil and Kate Kirk of Lexington, North Carolina. She married her high school sweetheart, James Leon Miller, who has remained the love of her life for over seventy years. Both have remained strong as life circumstances changed.

As health issues developed, they supported each other while continuing to share their optimistic attitude. Their infectious quick wit and laughter has always been shared by family and friends. Peggy was a member of the Willing Worker’s Sunday School Class, a past member of the church choir and always enjoyed the many poor man’s dinners and exciting trips with the Senior Citizens of Beck’s Church.

Her passions as a homemaker included gardening, both flowers and vegetables, canning, quilting, sewing, cooking and especially baking wonderful desserts which is a staple in their home. Children have always been a part of Peggy and Leon’s life. Their fourteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren have enjoyed hands-on experiences with Peggy and Leon.

Playing in the garden and harvesting vegetables, picking and eating various berries, and feeding the birds are a common occurrence when visiting Mamaw and Papaw Miller. Peggy is preceded in death by her brother, James Kirk, and a great grandson, Beau Stanley. She is survived by: her husband, James Leon Miller of Lexington; three sons, Rod Miller and wife, Cindy of Winston-Salem; Gary Miller and wife, Terry of Greenville; Jeff Miller and partner, Tom Tussey of Lexington; two daughters, Kathy Leonard and husband, Rick of Lexington, and Carol Hibbett and husband, Paul of Thomasville; three brothers, Bobby Kirk and wife, Bonnie of Lexington; Larry Kirk and wife, Anita of Florida; Dale Kirk and wife, Nellie of Lexington; two sisters, Elizabeth Beck of Lexington and Gail Black and husband, Dalton of Holden Beach: grandchildren, Zack Miller and wife Jung-Lae of West Point, N.Y.; Adam Miller and wife, Marelda of Hendersonville; Jennifer Stanley and husband, Parham of Greenville; Julie Howard of Cary; Kelly Cannon and husband, Brian of Greenville; Josh Letchworth and wife, Niki of Snow Hill; Justin Leonard and wife, Dawn of Greensboro; Erin Taylor and husband, Matt of Raleigh; Brandon Leonard of Lexington; Heather Moretz of Thomasville; Tyler Moretz and wife, Libby of Lexington; Paul Hibbett III and wife, Pam of Raleigh; Jenny Murphy and husband, Chris of Thomasville; Seth Hibbett of Raleigh; great grandchildren, Jacob, Sofia, Miller, Maddox, Kayla, Connor, Abby, Brianna, Preston, Carter, Ryder, Wade, James, Ezra, Lucas, Luke, Katelynn, Paul, Claire, and Nora.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elevator Fund of Beck’s Reformed Church, 2845 Beck’s Church Road, or Hospice of Davidson County.
