Peggy’s Obituary Margaret Ann (Oates) McClure, 61, of Montpelier, VA, formerly of Harleysville, PA, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, May 12, 2019. She and her husband, James McClure, Jr., celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on November 26th of last year. Born July 13, 1957 in Bensalem, PA, she was a daughter of the late Ronald Oates and Patricia (Gillis) Oates Hallis.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Charles Hallis. She grew up in Chalfont, PA and was a 1975 graduate of Central Bucks West High School. She later graduated from King’s College in Briar Cliff, NY, with a B.S. in Music.

Peggy was a dedicated music teacher who taught students in elementary school all the way through high school. She taught most recently at Guardian Christian Academy for 2 years and at Richmond Christian School for 15 years. Peggy was passionate about her students and teaching them to appreciate music.

She directed a variety of choral groups in addition to high school choir and handbell choir. She also enjoyed teaching private piano lessons to students of all ages. Peggy attended Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Glen Allen, VA, where she was active in both the choir and handbell choir.

Though music was a big part of her life, her greatest love was for her family and she cherished time spent together with them as much as possible. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, James McClure, III, and his wife, Kristin, Kaitlyn McClure, and Ryan McClure; granddaughters, Maitland and Merritt McClure; and siblings, Nancy Alderfer and her husband, Dale, Ron Oates Jr. and his wife, Tanya, and Steve Oates and his wife, Janneth. She is also survived by stepsiblings, Leah Baker, John Hallis Sr. and his wife, Sherri, and Vernon Hallis and his wife, Roxanne; and nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial services. The first will take place on June 1, 2019, at 2 PM at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 11220 Nuckols Rd. , Glen Allen, VA, 23059, where family will receive friends from 12-1:45 PM.

The second will take place on June 3, 2019, at 7 PM at Calvary Church, 820 Rte. 113, Souderton, PA 18964, where family will receive friends from 5-6:45 PM. Private burial will take place at Zion Memorial Gardens in Telford, PA.
