Preston Andrew Evans, Jr., 70 of Scottdale, died peacefully, Monday afternoon, July 2, 2018 in Select Specialty Care Hospital, Latrobe in the presence of his loving family. He was born March 9, 1948 in Connellsville, the son of the late Preston A., Jr. and Thelma R. Taylor Evans. Preston was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church, Scottdale.

He was a graduate of Connellsville High School Class of 1966. Preston was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Vietnam War, on the USS Cacapon (AO 52), attaining the rank of E-3. He was the recipient of the National Defense Medal and The Vietnam Service Medal.

Preston was employed by Westmoreland County Community College in their Heating/Cooling Maintenance Department, with 28 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #762 of Trotter and also a member of the Boricua’s Motorcycle Club. Preston is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Evans Preston’s family will greet friends in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Friday from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 7:30PM, at which time his Funeral Service will begin with Jean Gressen and Janice Evans, facilitating. Full Military Honors will be bestowed by the Southmoreland Veterans Association, following the Funeral Service, at the Funeral Home, in honor of Preston’s time spent in the U.S. Navy.
