Homer Lester “Bud” Hiltabidel, 86, of Bullskin Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 7, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 7, 1932 in Wyano, PA, the son of the late Lloyd Francis and Verna Belle (Sherman) Hiltabidel. Bud was a highly decorated veteran, receiving the Silver Star, Purple Heart and three Bronze Medals from his service in the Korean War.

Bud worked at Matlack Pipeline On Wheels, where he hauled hazardous chemicals safely for 38 years until his retirement. Bud adored camping and was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting every year. He was a good worker, and enjoyed crafting furniture.

He was a member of the Harvest Community, Bullskin Township, the Teamsters Union and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Connellsville. Bud was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Bud is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Audrey (Hyatt) Hiltabidel; children, Dennis James and wife Cheryl, Judith Ann and husband Bob, Debra Lee and husband Charlie, Raymond Michael “Bub”, Sandra Jean and husband Bill, John Harry and wife Lisa, Mark Robert and wife Lori, Paula Diane and husband Dan, Linda Marie and husband Matthew and David Scott and wife Melissa; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his sisters, Geneva and LaVaughn; brother, Garrett and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC. 418 North Pittsburgh Street Connellsville, PA 15425 on Wednesday from 2 to 8pm.

Additional visitation will be held on Thursday from 9am until the hour of the funeral service at 11am with Pastor Rob Allison officiating and the VFW Post 21 and American Legion Posts 301 and 762 officiating full Military Rites Interment will be held privately with Bud’s family at a later date at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. In lieu of flowers, Bud’s family requests donations be made to Harvest Community – 19 Park Ave Scottdale PA 15683.
