She was born on December 21, 1934 in Russell County, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Alfred Le Dotson; and a baby son, Ricky Lee Dotson.

Rachel is survived by four daughters, Carolyn Dotson (Johnny Overman) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Jane Dotson Overman (Ray) of Willow Spring, NC, Pamela Dotson Crawford (Ray) of Bracey, VA; and Angela Schmitz of Richmond, VA; also 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces; nephews; cousins; and extended family. Thomas Funeral Home in Fuquay-Varina, NC in cooperation with Bennett Funeral Home in Mechanicsville, VA oversee arrangements. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Signal Hill Memorial Park in Hanover, VA.
