Raymond T. Niemeier, 98, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the Linda E. White Hospice House. Ray was born January 31, 1920 in Evansville to the late George S. and Magdalene (Rexing) Niemeier. He worked as a material handling supervisor for Whirlpool Corporation for 42 years.

Ray was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church and was inducted into the Brute Society of the Diocese of Evansville for his work for the church. He was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Whirlpool Management Club and served on the board of directors for the Ozanam Family Shelter. Surviving Ray are his daughter, Barbara Hart of Tucson, AZ; a son, Allen (Janet) Niemeier of Mt.

Vernon; step daughters, Maureen Shepherd, Judy (Jim Bergin) Garvey and Rita (Mike) Bourland; step son, Norbert (Marti) Garvey; step daughter-in-law, Libby Garvey; a sister, Irene Scheller; grandchildren, Melani Niemeier, Matthew (Sarah) Niemeier, Sean (Michelle) Hert, Brian (Helena) Hert, Nicholas Niemeier and Kristy Niemeier; three great grandchildren, thirteen step grandchildren including, Michael O’Connor and Brenna (Jamie) Woods and eighteen step great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean (Burch) Niemeier in 1982; by a second wife Marian (Dillman) Garvey Niemeier in 1997; by his son, Mel Niemeier in 2017; by a step son, Keenan Garvey; sisters, Amelia Horstman, Agnes Scheller and Marie Koressel; by a grandson, Daryl Niemeier and by a step son-in-law, Carl Shepherd. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 28, 2019 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Rev.

Claude Burns officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Philip Church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 6:00 PM on Sunday and from 9:30 AM until service time on Monday at St. Philip Catholic Church.
