Jane Elizabeth (Powell) Batson, 86, of Newburgh, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 20th, 2019. She was in her home, surrounded by family. Jane was born to Gilbert and Florence Powell on November 5th, 1932.

She was a long-time member of Gateway Baptist Church, of Newburgh, and often donated her time and talents for their events. She enjoyed spending time with her family and teaching them about her love of baking. Jane was well-known for her fondness of redbirds and used many to decorate her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Donald Howard Batson; sisters, Catherine Bremerman and Eula Mae Miller; and brother, Thurman Powell. She is survived by her sister, Edith Wall; sister-in-law, Omegene Powell; daughter, Linda Thomas and husband James; son, David Batson and wife Patricia; grandchildren, Carrie Thomas, Ellie Pike, Nathan Thomas, and Maggie Batson; and great-grandchildren, Jackson and Ava Pike. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm Friday, January 25, 2019, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave.

Evansville, IN 47714. Visitation will continue Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 9:00 am-10:00 am with the Funeral Service beginning at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Col. Chaplain Byron Simmons, US Army Retired officiating.
