Rhoda L (Wische) Gilinsky-Brodsky November 11, 1937-November 18, 2018 died peacefully, after a long illness, at her home in Vestal, NY with her family by her side. Rhoda was a woman who cared deeply about her family, friends and her community. She dispensed sage wisdom to all in her circle, both professional and personal, with wit, warmth and charm.

She was beautiful inside and out and her sense of humor & loving, big hearted, generous spirit was embraced by all who knew her. Rhoda graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in Art Education. She was an artist and painter.

Upon graduation she became an art teacher at West Junior HS in Binghamton, NY. She left teaching to start a family and after her children were in college, she returned to the workforce as a financial advisor for Dean Witter/Morgan Stanley for thirty years and retired from Stifel Nicolas. Rhoda actively participated and served her community on the boards of the Ross Park Zoo, Binghamton YWCA, Broome Community College Foundation, Binghamton Boys and Girls Club.

Rhoda was predeceased by her parents Ida (Lowenstein) and Harry Wische of Cedar Grove, NJ. She is survived by her husband, Elliot Brodsky, her daughter Joy (Jim) Gilinsky Harris, her son Lewis (Mimi) Gilinsky, her grandchildren Valentina, Harris, Jimmy, Jake, her brother Marvin (Sue) Wische, several cousins, nieces, nephews. The family would like to thank the caregivers who lovingly cared for Rhoda for several years: Debbie Thorpe, Rebecca Dunlop, Molly Ginty, Emily Ginty, Karla Skidmore, Allyson Stringfield, Loretta Kistner, Stacey Burt, Tammy Svenson, Jody Cruz, Mary Humphrey, Reva Collins A graveside service will be at Beth Israel Cemetery, Memorial Section, US Hwy.

1, Woodbridge, NJ 11:30 am Wednesday. Following the funeral, family and friends are welcome at the home of Joy Gilinsky Harris, 1751 Garwood Dr., Cherry Hill, NJ. A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm Sunday Nov.

25 at Temple Israel in Vestal. The family will receive friends from 12-1 at the Temple. The family will be sitting Shiva 5:30 -8 at the home of Rhoda Gilinsky-Brodsky.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Binghamton Boys and Girls Club Foundation 90 Clinton St. Binghamton 13905, the Dr. Garabed Fattal Community Free clinic C/O Clinical Campus 425 Robinson St. Binghamton, NY 13904 or a charity of one’s choice.
