Richard A. Backner 79 of Uniontown, died Friday April 20, 2018 at Lafayette Manor, Uniontown. Born in Canonsburg on September 16, 1938 a son of Leonard and Helen Drabischak Backner. Richard was a former employee of McGraw Edison, the Meadowlands Racetrack and Sanders and Associates.

He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during peacetime. A member of St. Therese R.C. Church in Uniontown and a former member of the former St. Agnes Church, Richeyvillle, and a member of the American Legion Post 705 Centerville. Richard enjoyed spending his time with family, watching Pittsburgh sports teams and farming.

He is survived by his wife Gloria Belski Backner of Daisytown, a son Brian Backner of Uniontown, a stepson; Ron Fisher of Daisytown and several nieces and nephews. Richard was the last surviving of his 4 brothers; Leonard, Thomas, William and August and 3 sisters; Margaret, Mary Ann and Agnes. .

Visitation will be held Monday April 23, 2018 from 9:00am till 10:45am at the Leonard M. Pavlic Funeral Homes, Inc. 405 Main St. Bentleyville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. Katherine Drexel Parish, Bentleyville with Rev. Edward Yuhas officiating. Private interment will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp.
