Richard Bernard Guinen, 70, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC. Richard was a member of the Asheville Gun and Rifle Club and loved hunting and fishing. He was a Jack-of-All-Trades and an excellent craftsman.

While proudly serving our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War, Richard was injured and awarded the Purple Heart. He is preceded in death by his father, Bernard Guinen; brother, Jerry Guinen; and special aunt, Fern Mello. Surviving Richard is his loving wife of 37 years, Maureen Guinen, of Asheville, NC; mother, Natalie Platt, of Asheville, NC; step daughter, Robin Murphy, of MA; step grandson, Richard Murphy, of CA; uncle, Norman Mello, of Asheville, NC; nephew, Katon Guinen, of CA; godmother, Mary Lou Silvia, of Fall River, MA; many cousins but one special, Beck Mello and her children, Corie, Natalie, and Patrick; and all of Richard’s neighbors, especially the children.

As per his request, there will be no services held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Asheville Humane Society.
