Richard B. McCutcheon, 83 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Autumn Woods in New Albany, IN. Mr. McCutcheon was born on September 3, 1935 in Crawford County, IN the son of Cecil and Lillie Scott McCutcheon. He was a retired welder from the former Waukesha Cherry-Burrell Plant in Jeffersontown, KY.

Richard was a United States Navy Veteran, a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Charlestown, Blazing Star Masonic Lodge #226 in Charlestown and was a Kentucky Colonel. Richard enjoyed some of the simple things in life including gardening, reading, fishing, mushroom hunting, yard work especially mowing grass and square dancing. To his family he was thought of as a gentleman, compassionate, quiet, handy and had a love for family, Crawford County, peanut brittle and coffee.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Sue Murphy (Michael) of Jeffersonville, IN; sons, Anthony Wayne McCutcheon (Nichole) and Brian Lee McCutcheon (Alma) both of Charlestown, IN; brother, Leroy McCutcheon of Henryville, IN; sister, Linda Lambert of New Salisbury, IN; six grandchildren, Kerry, Donovan, Megan, Patrick, Brianna and Emma. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Edna Ruth McCutcheon; son, John Douglas McCutcheon; sisters, Betty Lou McCutcheon and Eva June Parkhill. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 12:30 P.M. at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, IN with burial in Union Chapel-Yates Cemetery in Grantsburg, IN.

Visitation will be held on Monday beginning at 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. The Blazing Star Lodge #226 will hold services during the funeral services on Monday and Charlestown American Legion and VFW Post’s will hold military graveside services.
