Obituary for Richard “Rick” William Kontos Jr. Richard William “Rick” Kontos, 59, a longtime Rush County resident passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 at his home in Mays. Rick was born in Indianapolis on November 1, 1958 to Richard William and Norma (Iula) Kontos Sr. Rick was a 1975 graduate of Indianapolis North Central High School. He received a B.S. in Biology from Purdue and later received two B.S. degrees from Indiana University for Medical Technologist and Nursing.

Rick was formerly the lab manager at Rush Memorial Hospital and was currently a Medical Technologist and head of Microbiology at Decatur County Memorial Hospital. Rick enjoyed gardening, hiking, camping, traveling and spending time with his family. Rick is survived by 3 sons, William “Bill” Kontos of Denver, Colorado, Russell Kontos of Des Moines, Iowa, Michael Kontos of Mays, IN, sister, Leigh Kontos of Fishers, IN, his father, Richard William Kontos Sr. and wife Kathrine of Noblesville, IN, nephew, Jackson DeCoursey and his longtime companion, Susan Appleby of Plainfield, IN.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Norma. Services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Pastor John Wall will preside.
