Richard “Rich” J. Pijan, 51, died Monday, June 18, 2018 at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac. He was born June 23, 1966 in Wausau, son of John and Sharon (Piehl) Pijan. Rich attended St. Michaels Grade School through the eighth grade, graduated from Newman High School and received an associate’s degree in computer science from Northcentral Technical College, all of Wausau.

Rich was a small business owner working as an independent network & computer support specialist, and was previously part owner of the Powerhouse Comics shop in Wausau. He also worked for Dell Computers Support Center, serving the central Wisconsin area. He served his country in the United States Army Reserve and the United States Navy.

As a young man he was very active in The Boy Scouts of America. He loved music, played several instruments and was also an avid gamer. He was a singer in two barbershop chorus organizations; “The River Valley Harmonizers” in Wausau where he was in charge of uniforms and chaired their “Singing Valentines”; and the “Northern Gateway Chorus” in Stevens Point where he also served as secretary.

Rich truly enjoyed being a member of the Regal Blend quartet which performed in the Stevens Point area. He was a member of the “Wausau Story Drum & Bugle Corp”. His nieces and nephews were extremely important to him, as was his adopted dog & best friend, Snoopy.

Survivors include his parents, John and Sharon Pijan; brother, James (Lynette) Pijan, Nashville, TN; godmother, Polly Kimball; aunts and uncles, Nancy Pijan, Lenny and Brenda Pijan, Polly and Fritz Kimball, Sue & Joe Brisch, Terry and Alice Piehl, David Pijan, Steve and Mary Beth Piehl, Chris Piehl; nieces, Aarian Range and Dallas (Pijan) Girard; nephews, Alan Pijan, Korbin Pijan, Tyler Pijan and Taylor Girard; great niece, Lumen Girard. As well as his many cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Elizabeth Pijan; brother, Kevin Pijan; grandparents, Leonard and Vernette Pijan, William and Alice Piehl; godfather, Tim Piehl; aunts and uncles, Barbara & Harold Russ, Peggy Pijan, Shirley Piehl, Carol Pijan, Billy Piehl and Tim Piehl; and cousin, Patrick Piehl.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Msgr.

Mark Pierce will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

There will be a parish rosary following the visitation on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Sixth Street funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.
