Rita’s Obituary Rita Marie Comeau Martina, 78 of Newman passed away Saturday, January 5th at her residence. Mrs. Martina was a substitute in the NCLUSD for years before retiring in 2016. She went back to college in her 50’s to graduate from CSU Stanislaus in 2003.

Rita was a member of the Toys for Tots, Teams of Our Lady, Newman Women’s League, Friends of the Library and enjoyed meeting and conversing with new people. She married her husband, Robert Martina July 2, 1960 in Fresno, California. Mrs. Martina is survived by husband, Robert Martina; daughters, Julia (Danny) Cope and Maggie Bartels; grandchildren, Josh, Sarah and Jacob Bettencourt, Miranda and Samantha “Sam” Bartels; great-granddaughters, Aubree and Paisleigh Bettencourt; brothers, Mark (Margaret) Gallistl, Chris (Linda) Comeau and sister, Tina (Mike) Liebelt.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm, Friday, January 11th at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 am, Saturday, January 9:00 am, Saturday, January 12th at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles. Interment to follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery in Newman.

Services conducted by Hillview Funeral Chapel, Gustine.
