Obituary for Robert C. Salkowitz Robert C. Salkowitz, 77, of Lorain, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018 at University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Born Feb. 6, 1941 in Lorain, he lived in Lorain his entire life.

He graduated from Lorain High School in 1959 and attended Ohio State University. In his youth, Robert was the first pitcher to pitch a no-hitter in Lorain Little League. Besides playing baseball he also enjoyed playing hockey.

Robert served as 1st ward councilman in the city of Lorain from 1971 to 1981. He then served as Service Director under Mayor William Parker from 1981 to 1984. Prior to this he worked at Fruehauf and also for Prudential Insurance as an insurance agent from 1964 to 1981.

He also worked for Lorain County Community College as a grant writer for Northern Ohio Job Training Program. Robert served as Safety Service Director for the city of Bellevue and later retired as the Huron County Administrator in 2000. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Lorain, and was a Grand Knight with the former Knights of Columbus Council 4223 Our Lady of the Lake.

Robert enjoyed watching baseball and building things around his house and yard. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports of any kind. Roberts true love in life was his family.

He will be missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Jeannette (nee Jesensky); a son, Robert of Lorain; daughters, Rachelle Dalzell of Macedonia, OH, Sheryl (Dennis Perez) Salkowitz of Niwot, CO and Janelle Bokal of Greenwood, IL; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; a brother, Wayne M. (Cathy) Salkowitz of Sun City, SC; and a sister, Judith (Bill) Murray of Westlake; He was preceded in death by his parents, Casimir A. and Dorothy (nee Matakovich) Salkowitz; and a brother, Dale. The family will receive friends on receive friends on Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 am followed by mass at 11:00 pm at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave. , Lorain.

Rev. Edward J. Smith, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
