OBITUARY Robert Chappel Arms, D.D.S. February 8, 1942 – December 11, 2018 Robert C. Arms, DDS, Loch Lloyd, Missouri, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, passed away December 11, 2018, in Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by his loving family. A service will be held on January 5, 2019 at Loch Lloyd Country Club, Belton, Missouri, at 1:00 pm with a celebration of Bob’s life to follow. Bob practiced oral and maxillofacial surgery in Overland Park, Kansas and retired in 2000.

He was honored to be on the staff of Surgicenter of Kansas City and Surgicenter of Johnson County. Bob always loved dentistry and felt privileged to care for his patients and to have the opportunity to work with many very dedicated dentists who became lifelong friends some of whom he lunched with every Tuesday for more than forty years. Bob belonged to numerous dental and oral and maxillofacial surgery organizations including the American Dental Association, Kansas Dental Association, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the University Study Club, the Midwest Society, and the Fifth District Dental Society.

Bob was devoted to his family and oral surgery his entire life. Bob was born on February 8, 1942 to the late Dr. Arnold V. Arms and Alice Wells Arms, in Detroit, Michigan. The Arms family moved to the Kansas City area shortly after Bob was born.

Growing up in this area offered Bob a variety of educational opportunities. He graduated from Pembroke-Country Day School where he was active in sports. Bob received his college education at Kansas University in Lawrence, Kansas where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity, and Bob received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Dentistry.

Although his professional life kept him extremely busy, he was never too busy for fun. Bob loved the outdoors, frequently spending time with his wife, Linda, and his family fishing from their dock or just spending time out on their boat. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf and developed an interest for woodworking and collecting arrowheads and antique fishing lures.

Bob also loved to travel with memorable trips with Linda to Italy and to Machu Picchu in Peru, and family vacations to Estes Park, Colorado, Sanibel Island, Florida and Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Bob cherished his annual trips with Linda to Florida in October, Hawaii in February and he looked forward to his yearly fishing trip with “the guys” to Canada or Rockridge in southern Missouri. Bob is preceded by his father and mother, Dr. Arnold V. Arms and Alice Wells Arms and his nephew, David.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Linda, his children Kathy (Stephan), Keri (Wesley), Alison (Eric), and Billy; his brother Dr. Richard Arms (Carol), sister Demaris Hansen, PhD (Eric) and their children Michael and Shawn; and his grandchildren Lauren, Adam, Ben, Charlie, Alex, Annabelle, Mia, Reed, Tyler, and Cole. The family would like to thank Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care for the love and compassion they showed to Bob and our family during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, The Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland, or the Cystic Fibrosis – Heart of America Chapter.
