Robert Charles McCullagh of Arcadia, Florida April 28, 1923 – February 12, 2019 Robert Charles McCullagh, age 95, of Arcadia, FL, passed away February 12, 2019 in Arcadia. Robert was born April 28, 1923 in Chicago, IL, moving to Arcadia in 1977 from Miami, FL. Robert had worked with the Dade County Sheriff’s Department for 10 years.

He also worked as an airplane mechanic for 14 years with National Air Lines. Robert was a licensed insurance agent with Peninsular Life Ins. Co, where he spent 11 years of faithful service.

Robert enjoyed traveling and writing. He was a good, honest, and faithful man, who always tried to do the right thing. Robert was a veteran or World War II, serving with the U. S. Army during the Aleutian Campaign and being awarded a Bronze Star and the Asiatic Pacific ribbon, and a Good Conduct medal.

Robert died still in love with his dear wife, Thelma, who preceded him in death last year. At the time of Thelma’s passing, she and Robert had been together for over seventy years. Robert was never the same after his beloved passed, and he sadly missed her.

Now, once again, they are together-and this time it is forever. Robert is survived by his son, Robert McCullagh, Pembroke Pines, FL, two grandchildren, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Thelma.

Visitation will be conducted from 9:30am until 10:30am, Monday, February 18, 2019 from the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 No. Hillsborough Avenue. Arcadia, FL.

Funeral services will be at 10:30am, Monday, Feb. 18, 2019 at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ellis Cross officiating.

Burial will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, FL Online condolences may be made at pongerkaysgrady.com Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Arcadia, FL is in charge of arrangements.
