Robert J. Zingaro, 68, of Solvay, passed away Sunday, May 19th at home. He was born in Syracuse to the late John and Wanda (Alexander) Zingaro in 1950. He was a lifelong resident of Solvay and communicant of St. Cecilia Church.

He worked meter and test then relay and control for Niagara Mohawk/National Grid for over 30 years before retiring. Bob then held the same position with TRC Engineering for 7 years. He was a member of the Solvay Fire Department for over 45 years and was past chief from 1995-1997.

He was also a member of the NYS Chiefs Association, OCVFA, Onondaga County Chiefs Association and a past member of CNY Street Rod Club. Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Patricia Hludzenski, 2 sons; Matthew (Amy) Zingaro, of Solvay and Stephen (Sara) Zingaro, of Solvay, his grandson; Evan Zingaro, of Solvay, brother; Jack (Dawn) Zingaro, of Jordan, sisters; Mary Ann (Thomas) Giannone, of Solvay, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 8:45 am Thursday at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME and 9:30 am at St. Cecilia Church, Solvay, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lakeland. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Solvay Fire Department, 1925 Milton Ave, PO Box 123, Solvay, NY 13209 or Clear Path for Veteran’s, 1223 Salt Springs Rd, Chittenango, NY 13037.
