OBITUARY Robert James Thomas May 20, 1951 – September 26, 2018 Robert James Thomas, a resident of Gardendale, Alabama, was born on May 20, 1951 and he passed away peacefully on September 26, 2018 at the age of 67. He was a graduate of Gardendale High School; he retired from the United States Post Office after many years of service. He was a member of Central Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and enjoyed teaching his Sunday school class.

He coached little league baseball in Gardendale for many years. He was avid fan of anything Alabama, and a Baltimore Orioles baseball, he loved his family dearly and cherished all the time he was able to spend with them. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, James Cleveland Thomas and his loving wife of 38 years, Johnnie Segars Thomas.

Robert is survived by his mother, Betty Faye Belcher Thomas; two daughters, Jamie Quick (Tony Schmidt), and Jennifer Daniels (Tyler); sisters, Vicki L. McAlpine (Sherman), Debbie Harmon (Jeff), and Donna Thomas; brother-in-law, Howard Segars (Bonita); grandchildren, Ethan Quick, Faith Quick, Eric Quick, many other family members and a host of friends. Celebration of life services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with a time of visitation, Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm; funeral service on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 2:00pm, followed by his burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, Alabama.
