OBITUARY Clarence E. Goodwin December 2, 1939 – September 16, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Clarence (Pee Wee) Eldridge Goodwin, son of the late Eldridge Goodwin and Ora Fendley Goodwin was born December 2, 1939 in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended the public schools of Birmingham Alabama. After school he worked in a small grocery store in North Birmingham for a short while and then became an offset pressman for Progressive Farmer and Southern Living Magazine in Birmingham.

He later then worked for the Tampa Tribune, Birmingham News, Washington Post and Memphis Daily News. After many years in the newspaper industry he retired working for Gerber Metal Litho in Birmingham. He enjoyed living life to it’s fullest which included fishing, camping, watching college and pro football, motorcycle riding, spending time with family and friends and gardening.

The things he loved most was being a grandfather which everyone called him Pawpaw. Mr. Goodwin was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Gardendale, Alabama. Mr. Goodwin quietly departed this life Sunday, September 16, 2018 at St. Vincents East Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama after a short illness.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife Debra Dillashaw Goodwin and his best friend and companion Katie Bradford of Remlap, AL. His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his five children: Larry Goodwin of Warrior, AL, Janet Goodwin of Cropwell, AL, Charlene Tolbert (Darrell Tolbert) of Morris, AL, Lara Goodwin-Polk and Suzi Otto both of Birmingham, AL. Mr. Goodwin had many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Goodwin was one of Alabama Footballs biggest fans. He will be leaving this life into his new life dressed in Alabama attire, which he always wore. ROLL TIDE !

! ! Visitation for Mr. Goodwin will be held on Wednesday September 19th at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel, Wednesday at 5pm until 7pm.

Funeral service will begin at 11:00am on Thursday September 20th at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Bethel United Methodist Cemetery in Bradford, AL following the service.
