He was born in Chicago IL to Llewellyn and Kathryn (Collins) Lindner. With his younger brother Albert, he grew up in Kendall, WI and later moved to Mauston, WI.

He was a sports fanatic playing both basketball and football through high school. His love of sports was central to his life. In the 60’s and 70’s, he coached basketball at St. Bernards Madison, baseball for East Madison little league, and youth football in the ‘90’s in Verona.

He enjoyed golf and bowling. He attended as many local school sports events as he could throughout his life. He especially enjoyed watching his children/grandchildren when they participated.

In the ‘70’s and ‘80’s he was an avid supporter of The Capitolaires, Madison Scouts, Blue Stars, and 27th Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps. When his children were members, he volunteered many hours in support of the corps and opened his home to house many out of town members. He used all of his vacation time to follow the corps on tour across the US.

He even set up a screen printing operation in his garage to make souvenir t-shirts for the Capitolaires. He was a member of the Free Mason’s Doric lodge Madison in the early ‘70’s. He retired from corrugated box manufacturing at Eastex after almost 30 years.

He retired to Sun City, AZ for a few years but missed his family and Packer and Badger games, so back to WI it was. He lived in Verona, WI for a few years then back to his hometown of Mauston. He spent the remainder of his retirement taking care of his cherished dogs, and spending time with family and friends.

He especially enjoyed spending time every morning with the “coffee clutch” at the grocery store, keeping up on current events and gossip, reminiscing, and solving the world’s problems. He had three children with his first wife Rita (Gardner) and two with his second wife Joan (Marsh). He is survived by his children, Don (Laurie), Dianne, Noel, Doug (Bobbie), and Roberta /Bertie, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He loved each and every one of them very much. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Al, his son-in-law John Coleman (Bertie), and his wife Joan. A celebration of life will be held in June.

Memorials in his honor can be made to a local youth organization or animal shelter.
