Keyser-Robert Leroy Shipman, Sr. ,90, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at his home. Born in Williamsport, Pa, he was the son of the late Amos Britton Shipman and Anna (Rukgber) Shipman. He is also preceded in death by brothers Richard Shipman and Walter Shipman.

Robert was retired from the U.S. Army and worked for the FBI for 17 years. Robert was very musically inclined and had many musical accomplishments. While in high school, Robert played the clarinet and saxophone in the marching band and orchestra.

He also played in the Williamsport Civics orchestra as well as several dance bands. Robert played in the Fairbanks Alaska Civics orchestra and was a frequent clarinet soloist. In his later years, he took up the organ and has been playing 7 years with Lowery.

Robert sang in the choir and played clarinet solos at Mount Zion Methodist where he was a member. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Louise (Jones) Shipman, sons, Robert L. Shipman, Jr. and wife Barbara of WV; Brian Shipman and partner Diane Shands of NC; daughters, Beverly Ann Collins and husband Colby of NC; and Babbette Ardillo and husband Jason of VA; grandchildren, Inga Shipman, Kristin Jones and husband Richard, Jennifer Leonard and husband Michael, Charles Coates and wife Christina, and Cody Shipman and wife Mariana, Kelsey Pettitt, and Jonathan Cole and wife Laura, and Miles Shipman, and Carrie Scharf and husband Bill, and 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving, sister Peggy Lou Ritter of PA.

Family and friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Saturday, June 2 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday, June 3 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Daniel C. Agnew officiating. Military honors will be accorded by Farrady Post #24.
