Obituary – Robert James Jakes, Jr. Robert James Jakes, Jr., age 50, of Leon, Iowa, the son of Robert James and Susann Joyce (Mills) Jakes, was born August 3, 1968, in Faribault, Minnesota. He died on Monday, September 3, 2018, at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa.

Rob, as he was known, grew up and attended school in Montgomery, Minnesota. He then farmed… Read More » and drove truck, which he really enjoyed. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing in his free time, his horse, Buddy, and his dogs, DeeDee, Mike, Spike, LC, and LB.

On December 3, 2010, he was married to Shanna Lynn Timm in Leon, Iowa. Preceding him in death were his grandparents; and two stillborn daughters from a previous marriage. Survivors include his wife, Shanna Jakes of Terre Haute, Indiana; four children, Matthew Cooley of Leon, Stephanie Linaman and Samantha Davila and Frankie, all of Faribault, and Kelsey of Little Falls, Minnesota; five stepchildren, Mandy Erickson and Jesse Inabnit and Kortney Cooley and Ricky Brown, all of Terre Haute, Trey Rickey and Andrew Rickey, both of Wisconsin, and Tyler Proctor of Rochester, Minnesota; several grandchildren; his mother, Susann Jakes of Leon; his father, Robert Jakes of Montgomery, Minnesota; siblings, Sheila Marie Jakes and Mary Ann and Jim Jakes and Lisa, all of Montgomery, and Kimberly Zimmerman of LeCenter, Minnesota; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

The family will hold a gathering 1-5 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Rob’s Leon, Iowa home at 202 SE 12th Street. Arrangements were through the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa.
