Roberta C. Starrett, 90 of Duncan Falls, passed away 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Genesis Hospital, CCU following a brief illness. Roberta was born May 17, 1928 in Zanesville, Ohio. She is the daughter of the late Robert D. and Edna (Hardesty) Combs.

Roberta was the owner of Starrett and Son Hardware in Duncan Falls along with her husband, Jim. She graduated from Lash High School in 1946. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Aunt.

She worked for the Franklin Local Schools and the Zanesville City Schools as a library technician, she helped to set up the libraries in the elementary schools, and the last 16 years with Zanesville High School Library until retiring in 1998. She was a member of the Duncan Falls United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1058 ladies auxiliary. After retiring she found a love of the Arts, she enjoyed coloring, sketching and painting.

She was an avid reader, and that is how she continued for her thirst for knowledge. She previously served with the Friends of the Muskingum County Library. Roberta is survived by her three children, Susan (Gene) Shaheen of Lower Burrell, PA, Rob Starrett of Duncan Falls, and Melissa (Mike) Starrett–King of Blue Rock; four grandchildren, Brent (Sandy) Broderick of Oregonia, OH, Kellie (Tom) Hayden of Gulf Breeze, FL, Sam Starrett of Duncan Falls, and Curtis Gatrell of Blue Rock; her four great grandchildren, Gwen, Hunter, Sophia and Amelia; her niece and nephews, Paul Bray, LeAnne Bader-Mock and Leo Bader and her special friend Kathy Welsch.

In addition to her parents, Roberta is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Starrett who passed away February 15, 2010; her daughter, Linda Carol, her sister, Betty E. Bader. Visitations will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls, where funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday Pastor Darla Revennaugh officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Duncan Falls Cemetery.
