Mrs. Roberta L. “Bobbie” (Roper) Borum, 72, a resident of the East End section of Wilkes-Barre, passed into eternal life unexpectedly Wednesday evening in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital following a recent illness. Born November 16, 1946 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter to the late George Roper, Dorothy (Rodda) Roper-Belcastro and step-daughter to the late Primo Belcastro. Educated in the city schools, Mrs. Borum was a member of the 1964 graduating class of the Grand Army of the Republic Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre.

She was an active member of the Albright United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre, where she participated in the women’s circle and also held membership in the Red Hat Ladies and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, Wilkes-Barre. Bobbie and her husband, Mr. John J. Borum would have celebrated fifty years of married life together two days following her passing on January 25th. She is remembered by those who knew and loved her as being a wonderfully devoted and loving wife, mother, sister and aunt to her adoring family.

Her presence will be greatly missed by all. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Georgia Hughes and by brothers James and Tony Roper. Left to cherish her memory are her husband John at home, the couple’s children, John Borum of Cleona, PA and Dorothy Marie Borum, at home; Siblings Dorothy Bushman of Lancaster, George “Duke” Roper and his wife Wendy of Mercersburg, PA, Essie Harrison and her husband Frank of Wilkes-Barre and Alice Zimmerman and her husband Earl of Carlisle; Numerous nieces, nephews, fellow congregants and dear friends.

Memorial services for Bobbie will be conducted on Saturday, February 2nd at 12 noon in the Albright United Methodist Church, 116 Dana Street Wilkes-Barre with Pastor Eugene Sperazza officiating. Interment will be private and at the family’s convenience. Relatives and friends may join Mrs. Borum’s family for visitation and remembrances Saturday directly at church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.
