Rodney’s Obituary Rodney Lee Mennen, age 56, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Douglas and Maxine (Truax) Mennen DeBoer on November 20, 1962, in Waterloo, Iowa. He was baptized into the Christian faith on April 11, 1965, by Rev. Nevin Haines at the First Congregational Church in Parkersburg.

Rod graduated from the Parkersburg High School in 1981. During high school Rod began working for Myron Meester, as a mechanic, at his shop and station. Rod’s passion was always working.

Through the years he also had worked at Feather Lite Trailers in Nashua until they closed, Waverly Plastics and then Shell Rock Product, now owned by Menards. Rod had to retire due to health reasons. Rod loved to go hunting and fishing and also working on cars.

Some of his favorite things were spending time outdoors gardening, take care of his lawn, cutting wood for his burn pit, grilling and playing horse shoes. He loved his children and grandchildren and was very involved in their lives. Rod passed away Monday, March 18, 2019, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa, from natural causes.

He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Mennen; brother, Rick Mennen and wife, Michele Mennen; and step-father, Ronald DeBoer. Rod is survived by two sons, Zachary (Katie) Mennen and their children Willis, Winchester, Willow and baby to be all of Allison, Damien (Tabbie) Mennen and their son, Jaymison Jerome Mennen of Greene; one daughter, Brooke Mennen of Allison; five grandchildren; his mother, Maxine DeBoer of Parkersburg; and one sister, Meressa Dedic of Traer; one nephew, Landon Mennen and his daughter, Ashlynn Mennen; and one niece, Krystal (Robbie Stivers) and daughter, Galexie Skye. Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 21,2019, at the First Congregational Church with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Parkersburg Visitation will be from 4:00 pm.

to 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg, (319)346-1534, and one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg is in charge of arrangements.
