Ronald’s Obituary Kittery Point- Ronald B. Lawrence, 76 of Lynch Lane in Kittery Point died on February 18, 2019 folowing a courageous battle against Leukemia. Born in Portsmouth and raised on Pleasant Street in Eliot he was a son of the late John and Helen (. Clubb ) Lawrence.
He attended local schools graduating from Eliot High School. Ron served his country as a member of the United States Coast Guard Reserves for eight years. On October 5, 1963 he married his loving wife of fifty six years Ruth I. ( Doucette ) Lawrence and together they built a home and raised their family on Haley Road in Kittery Point.
A lifelong commercial fisherman he built the Ruth Ilene his commercial fishing boat in the back yard of his home. Ron was well known in his community serving more than forty years on the Kittery Point Fire Department in the Lewis Square Station, especially enjoying operating Engine 5 for many years and always looked forward to a fireman’s field day. He was well respected around the dock and was glad to chat about his favorite Red Sox and Celtics, he enjoyed parking near the fence and cheering on the Traip Academy Baseball team and enjoyed watching his grandchildren compete on their sports teams and was an active Mason in Naval Lodge in Kittery and a Shriner in the KORA Temple, active in the RENEGADES at parades etc.
His first love was unquestionably his family, offering support for his children and grandchildren in their businesses . He and Ruth enjoyed many seasons in Lake Wales Florida both in their camper and at their home in Lake Wales, where he loved to fish at Lake Annie and other close by lakes. He enjoyed camping in Southern Pines in Frost Proof as well as time on the links playing golf.
He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him, he is survived by his loving wife Ruth, sons Steve and David Lawrence of Kittery Point and Mike Vallee whom he loved like a son, grandchildren Alyssa and her fiancé Chris, Seth and James, a sister,Gail and several nieces and nephews as well as his adored best buddy Addee his West-highland Terrier. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Jack and beloved son Jay Lawrence. Friends are invited to visit with Ron’s family on Monday February 25, 2019 from 6-8pm with Masonic services beginning at 6pm in the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery, Maine 03904 where a Funeral will be celebrated on Tuesday at 6pm with the Rev Dr Beth Hoffman officiating .
