Ronald (aka Doc Burney) passed away Friday February 8, 2019. Ron was a pharmacist and owned Kingston Drug Center. Ron was a funny, witty, kind and gentle man who served Kingston and the pharmacy profession honorably.

His lunch counter was the center of Kingston culture for more than a quarter of a century and he gave so many young people their first job. Ron was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church in Kingston for almost 50 years. Ron was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1954 to 1956.

He graduated Howard College of Pharmacy (now known as Samford University) with a BS in Pharmacy in 1960. He practiced Pharmacy in Rossville, Georgia prior to moving to Kingston in 1969. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma.

He is survived by his daughter Ronda Burney Piper (Burt), his son Rodney Jerome Burney (Lora), grandchildren Burton Piper (Sarah), Brad Piper (Emily), Katie Burney, Joseph Burney, and one great grandchild Victor Dominic Piper (Burton and Sarah). The family will receive friends from 2pm until 4pm Sunday February 10, 2019 at the Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston with the funeral to follow at 4pm in the Kyker Chapel. Burial will be Monday at 1pm at the Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park in Rossville, Georgia.
