Obituary for Ronald Dale Rhodes GRANBURY – Ronald D. Rhodes passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Pecan Plantation Volunteer Fire Department and EMS 9518 Monticello Drive, Granbury, Texas 76049; or The American Heart Association. Ron was born May 9, 1940 to Ronald W. and June Rhodes in Beloit, Kan.

Ron served six years in the Marines after graduating from Jamestown High School in 1958. He worked for more than 35 years in the oil and gas industry. Ron was hard-working and dedicated, rarely if ever missing a day of work.

Ron was an avid golfer. He spent many joyful years hitting balls on the golf course, watching golf on television and riding around in his golf cart. He was frequently heard saying, “Only working people golf on Saturdays, I’m retired!

” He loved watching and cheering on the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys. Ron was devoted to his family and was always available to help whenever his “girls” needed him. He loved his family fiercely and with his whole heart.

His greatest joy was spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. If you were looking for Papa on a Saturday, he could be found at the baseball, soccer, or football field watching his “little man”, at the volleyball court watching his precious granddaughter, or lunching and shopping with his daughters. Ron loved the Lord and we find peace knowing his mother and daddy were waiting with open arms to welcome him home.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, his aunt and two uncles. Survivors: He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Sue of Granbury; his daughters, Rhonda Cage and husband, Chris and Kari Jo Rhodes and fiance, Bill VanHorn; grandson, Ryan Christopher; and granddaughter, Sydney Tate, all of Fort Worth.
