Ronald Georges Demers July 27, 1944 – January 31, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card CIMARRON – Ronald Georges Demers, 74, died Thursday, January 31, 2019 at his home. He was born July 27, 1944 at Gatineau, Quebec, Canada, the son of Edgard and Helen (Corrigan) Demers. Ron was a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces and was stationed in Germany, after he served he came back home and worked for the Government of Canada as an executive assistant for the Treasure of Canada Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Ronald came to the United States in November of 2009 and he married Sharon on December 22 2009. It was a cold snowy night but it started a wonderful loving marriage of 9 Years. Ronald loved the open plains and being able to see for miles after living in a city of high rises for most of his life.

He loved his new step children and grandchildren and immediately became a part of a more extended family of Stasser’s of north west Kansas. He loved to work in his yard and do building projects in his garage and just spending time on our front porch. He quickly became know as “the man who waves” he greeted everyone that drove by with a smile and a wave.

I asked him why he did it and he said “it may be the only smile and wave that they get in there busy day”. Ronald loved Cimarron and never wanted to leave. He was a kind, gentle man who was always polite to everyone he met.

At heart he always had the dream of being an old fashioned cowboy. He was loved so much and will be missed by many family and friends. Survivors include: his wife, Sharon Demers, Cimarron; his daughter, Kristen Demers, Ottawa, Canada; Step-Children, Serena Simmons and husband Chris, Ingalls and Lynn Stasser, Mesa, Arizona; one sister, Carol Demers, Nascouche, Quebec, Canada; 9 Grandchildren, Enjoli, Cierra, Jamie, Cody, Cade, Kelby, Blake, Tristen, and Clayton; 5 Great Grandchildren, Easton, Scarlett, Savanah, Ryder and Bentley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and Step-Son, Randell Stasser. Memorial service will be at 2:00 pm Friday, February 8, 2019 at First Baptist Church, Cimarron with Reverend Richard Deimund officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Cimarron Cemetery.

There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. The family suggests memorials to the Cancer Society of Kansas in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, P.O. box 446, Cimarron, Kansas 67835.
