OBITUARY RONALD L HOFF January 13, 1934 – September 22, 2018 Ronald L. Hoff, 84, of Bossier City passed away peacefully DATE at his home. He was born on January 13, 1934 to the late Leslie G. Hoff and Thelma Nickell Hoff Boehmer in Cleves, OH. Two years after birth he and his parents moved to Lawrenceville, IN.

He grew up there and graduated from Sunman High School in 1951 where he excelled in basketball, baseball, and track. He attended Miami University in Oxford, OH but decided to enter the United Stated Air Force in September, 1952. This decision had him proudly serving his country for 26 years, retiring October, 1978 as a Senior Master Sergeant.

He was an airborne morse code radio operator on B-29, C-47 and KC-97 aircraft and cross-trained into the Boom Operator/Loadmaster career field in 1958. In 1963, he trained into the KC-135 and remained in that field. He logged over 9,000 flying hours and logged 137 combat missions.

His last three years of service was as Alert Force Supervisor (Alert Facility) at Barksdale AFB. He served over seven years overseas. He was awarded 2 Meritorious Service Medals, 3 Air Medals and many other awards.

He became a Realtor Associate while he was in the service and soon after he retired, became a Realtor and also was demonstrating computerized commercial lines insurance, rating systems for Canon in LA. Then, in 1981, with Real Estate depressed, he decided to begin a new career by becoming a Petroleum Landman, which lead him to work in eight states. He and three others started their own company, Energy ReSearch, Inc. in Shreveport.

Later, (1993) he kept the charter, moving the company to his home office and re-named the company, RiverCity ReSearch, Inc. Starting in 1991, he worked mostly with large crews on large projects as an Abstracter in South TX, LA and MS until his complete retirement in 2009. Land and mineral title was a very gratifying career field for him. Mr. Hoff moved to Bossier City, LA in 1968 and remained here, except for a three year tour on Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Hoff was twice President of the 98th Air Refueling Squadron Vets Assn from Lincoln AFB, NE where he served from 1955-1963 in KC-97s. He was a life-time member of the Air Force Sergeants Assn and the In-flight Refueling Assn; a member of the Air Force Assn, the VFW, a charter member of the American Legion Koran Post 388; a former member of the Realtors Assn, the American Assn of Petroleum Landmen, and the Ark-La-Tex Assn of Petroleum Landmen. He is survived by his sister, Marlene J. Hoff (Nick) Riehle of Batesville, IN; his first wife, Mary Ann Dobson Hoff, mother to his children; children: Linda J. Hoff Doyal of Bossier, Lynn A. (Susan) Hoff of Wylie, TX, Cathy J. (Jim) Hoff Duncan of Bossier; step-children: Tami Smith (Brad) Burch of Bethany, TX, Stacy (Sybil) Smith of Bullard, TX, and Chris Smith, Mooringsport, LA; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hoff, Diane C. Hoff, Brandi Johnson, Jeremy Hoff, Christi McWilliams, Amanda Duncan, Josh Burch, Jessica Lemke, Chris Smith, Sabra Collier, Samantha Schleben, Sandra Renee Smith, and Stephanie Smith; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and first cousins and their progeny.

Mr. Hoff was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 28 years, Sandra L. Gibson Smith Hoff; daughter, Diane M. Hoff (1988); son, Jeff L. Hoff (2015); three adult step-children; grandsons, Brian and Brad Keith; second wife, Evelyn Edelen New Hoff; granddaughter, Shannon Smith; and so many of his friends and comrades that departed life before him, many way too early. Military Services celebrating his life will be held Monday, September 24, 2018 at 10:00 am at Hillcrest Memorial Mausoleum in Haughton, LA. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Shriners Hospital for Children in Shreveport or the Wounded Warrior Project.
