Obituary for Rose Marie Sollecito Rose Marie Sollecito, 82, formerly of Great Neck, L.I., NY and most recently of Sarah Jane Sanford Home in Amsterdam, NY; passed away Wednesday July 25, 2018 at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam. Born in Amsterdam on October 27, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Mary “Minnie” Damenica Sollecito Sr. Rose Marie received her education in the Amsterdam school system and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She also graduated from Albany State College, now SUNY at Albany.

Rose Marie retired as a language teacher from the North Shore public school system in Long Island, NY. Rose Marie was of the catholic faith. She was also a member of SUNY Albany Teachers Alumni.

Rose Marie is survived by one brother, John J. Sollecito of Naples, FL; two sisters, Adelaide Blanchfield and Virginia Malicki (Ron) all of Amsterdam. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews also survive. Rose Marie was also predeceased by two sisters, Esther M. Gyory and Nancy Jenkins, and three brothers, Dominick, Vincent and Pasquale Sollecito.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Monday morning July 30, 2018 at 11:15 at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, with Rev. Jeffrey L’Arche, M.S. officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.

Rose Marie’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff in the Intensive Care Unit at St. Mary’s Healthcare for all of the care and compassion they gave her. They would also like to thank everyone at the Sarah Jane Home for all they have done this past year. Memorial gifts in Rose Marie’s name may be made to The Foundation of St. Mary’s Healthcare, 427 Guy Park Avenue, or Sarah Jane Sanford Home, 69 Guy Park Avenue, both Amsterdam, NY 12010.
