Rose Mary Darlington, October 29, 1932 — March 29, 2019

Bluefield, VA- Rose Mary Darlington, 86, of Bluefield, VA, died Friday March 29, 2019 in Roanoke, VA. Born October 29, 1932 in Beckley, WV, she was a daughter of the late Samuel S. Treola and Beatrice Gilletto Treola. Mrs. Darlington was a member of Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church in Bluefield, VA, and prior to moving to Bluefield, she attended First Baptist Church of Beckley.

After graduating from high school, she worked at G.C. Murphy Co. where she met her husband of 67 years. She learned to golf at the age of 39, and proudly had a hole-in-one at Bluefield Country Club. Mrs. Darlington enjoyed being a member of the Sharecroppers Investment Club.

She loved to travel and spend winters in Florida. On a trip to Italy, she was able to see the home place of her father’s family. Most importantly, Mrs. Darlington was devoted to her family.

She was a loving wife, a wonderful mother, and a friend to many. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Donald Ray Darlington, Sr.; three children, Donna M. Miller and husband Terry of Daniels, WV, Donald R. “Donnie” Darlington, Jr. of Rural Retreat, and Linda O’Neal and husband John of Bluefield, VA; brother, Jack Treola and wife Barbara of Charleston, WV; sister, Jenny Osborne of Beckley, WV; five grandchildren, Bryan Miller, Dana Furstnau, Jeff Miller, Emily Darlington, and Hunter O’Neal; three great-grandchildren, Anthony Furstnau, Alexis Darlington, and Clara Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Pauline Eberle.

A funeral service will be conducted on Monday April 1, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Petty and Rev. Donald “Doc” Adkins officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1:30-3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where family members and friends will serve as pallbears.
