ROY DALE “BUCKWHEAT” SATTERFIELD, age 63, of Washington CH, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 10:14 a.m. at his home. He was born on April 29, 1955 in Fayette County to Forrest and Irene Lambert Satterfield. He was a 1974 graduate of Washington High School.

Roy had worked at CorTek for over nineteen years prior to his retirement. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting arrowheads, and being with his family and grandchildren.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Russ Dilley; grandson, Aftyn Caudill; brother, Carl Satterfield; father-in-law, Bill Durbin; and sister-in-law, June Hildebrecht. Survivors include his wife, Jan Marie Durbin Satterfield, whom he married on July 29, 1978; children, Amanda Satterfield, Jamie (Shawn Caudill) Satterfield, and Jeremy Satterfield; grandchildren, Kamdon Satterfield, Colt Satterfield, Jenna Satterfield, and Kinsley Caudill; siblings, Ralph Satterfield, Marty (Dean) Knapp, and Ruth (Dale) Grubb; aunt, Ruth Self; mother-in-law, Nancy Durbin; sisters-in-law, Joy (Jon) King, Jackie (John) Wilks, Julie (Stan) Blackburn, and Linda Satterfield; and brother-in-law, Jim (Carol) Durbin. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Highlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.
