Ruth A. “Shearer “ Bartgis, of Mount Joy, PA, was called home on January 7, 2019 at the age of 76. Ruth was the devoted wife of John K. Bartgis, with whom she celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage with. Ruth was the daughter of the late Allen and Edna J. Shearer of Mount Joy, PA A loving mother and homemaker, Ruth enjoyed baking, canning and caring for her family.

She treasured her grandchildren and great-granddaughter and cherished her many trips to West Virginia where she spent time with extended family and friends. Ruth had a fondness for country music and loved Cardinals. Ruth is survived by her husband John K. Bartgis, her three children; Barbara Powell, wife of Wayne Powell of Manheim, PA; John W. Bartgis, husband of Michelle Bartgis of Blue Rock Ohio; and Beverly Radzik, wife of Ronald Radzik, of Manheim, PA.

Her six grandchildren Wayne W. Powell of Manheim, PA: Olivia Spayd wife of Derek Spayd, Mount Joy, PA; Corey K. Radzik husband of Heather Radzik, Manheim PA; Holly Bartgis, Blue Rock, OH, Joran Bartgis, Blue Rock, OH and Jason Radzik of Centerville, PA and great-granddaughter, McKenzie Radzik, of Mt. Joy, PA. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for Ruth at Ephrata Manor Nursing Home and Hospice Center of Lancaster County.

A memorial service honoring Ruth’s life will be held at Chiques United Methodist Church, 1215 East Main Street, Mount Joy on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 11:45 AM. Family and friends will be received at the church before the service from 10 AM to 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Mt.

Pleasant Cemetery.
