Ruth E. Rawlings, 103 HARTFORD CITY – Ruth Elaine Rawlings, 103, passed away at 6:32 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home. She was born in New Castle on March 23, 1915 to Issac Harvey Thomson and Laura Frances (Tutwiler) Thompson. Both of her parents preceded her in death.

Ruth graduated from Hartford City High School in 1933. She married James L. Rawlings on July 3, 1943 in Fort Wayne and he precedes her in death on August 4, 2009. Ruth… Read More » retired from Overhead Door in Hartford City in 1969, where she was Paul McKee’s Secretary.

She was a 50 plus year member of Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority, Research Club and had formerly been active in the Blackford Community Hospital Auxiliary. She attended Grace United Methodist Church. Ruth will be sadly missed by her son, James L. (wife, Hannah M.) Rawlings of Buck Falls, PA; grandchildren, James C. Rawlings and Alexandra S. Rawlings; 1 nephew.

She is also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Engleheart. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St. Hartford City. Burial will follow at Hartford City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Keplinger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Sigma Phi Gamma Scholarship Fund. Online condolences may be sent to www.
