Ruth Donaldson Humphreys, 91, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019, at her son’s home in Lobelville, Tennessee. Private graveside services were held at Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville. Ruth was born on December 3, 1927, in Williamson County, to Clarence and Agnes (Rushing) Spiller.

She married Marvin Paul Burress on September 21, 1945, in Piggott, Arkansas. She later married Joseph Rex Donaldson on June 10, 1956, in Hernando, Mississippi. She then married James L. Humphreys on August 13, 1983, in Niagara Falls, New York.

She is survived by her son, J. Rex (Pam) Donaldson; grandson, Joe (Teala) Donaldson; granddaughter, Jayla Donaldson; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jeremiah Donaldson and Joelene Donaldson, all of Lobelville, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews in North Carolina. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands; son, Donald Burress; granddaughter, Rachel Donaldson; and brother, J.T. Spiller. Ruth was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Carterville for many years.

She was a real estate broker. When she wasn’t researching her family tree, she was promoting Southern Illinois as “a place to play and a place to stay”.
