Ruth M. Godwin, age 73, of Zanesfield, Ohio passed away at 9:02 A.M. Thursday, January 17, 2019 at her residence. She was born in Springfield, Ohio February 3, 1945, a daughter of the late Harley and Margaret (Hinkle) Steele. On November 25, 1972, in New Carlisle, Ohio she married Charles F. “Charlie” Godwin and he preceded her in death March 27, 2011.

She is survived by two sons, Richard (Melissa) Reynolds of Rushsylvania, Ohio, and Charles Junior Godwin of Bellefontaine, Ohio, two daughters, Robin (Chris) McConnell of Zanesfield and Michele (Dennis) Jones of Bellefontaine; five grandchildren, Mike (Melissa) McConnell, Joe (Alyssa) McConnell, Hayes Tyler Godwin, Gage (Elise) Yeager, and Alissa Yeager; nine great grandchildren, Elliott, Gabriel, Sunny, Linen, Simon, Samuel, Richard, Truett, and Haisley; a brother, Paul Steele of New Carlisle, Ohio; a sister, Lois (Don) Zerkle of Urbana,Ohio; a foster sister, Cindy Sullivan of North Hampton and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth worked as a nurse for most of her career and was a long-time member of the Bellefontaine First Friends Church where she loved to sing. She also enjoyed camping and attending Ludlow Falls Church Camp each year.

Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Goshen Friends Church in Zanesfield. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 2 to 5 P.M. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine and again one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Wednesday.

Burial will be at the Zanesfield Cemetery in Zanesfield. The arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine. TD Donations may be made to: First Friends Church 808 W. Columbus Ave.
