OBITUARY Ruthene “Ruth” Puckett October 17, 1929 – September 8, 2018 Ruthene “Ruth” Puckett, a resident of Fultondale, Alabama, was born in Holmes Creek in DeKalb, Tennessee, on October 17, 1929 and she passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on September 8, 2018, at the age of 88. Ruth was a member of the Evangel Assembly of God in Mount Olive where she faithfully served her Lord and Savior. She was a prayer warrior and she felt blessed to be able to serve others.

She enjoyed crocheting and made many items for her friends and family and also working and taking care of the flowers in her gardens. She did a lot of canning and taught her daughters to can as well and she would always share what she had canned with others. She was a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great and great–great grandmother, and she cherished all the time she was able to spend with her family, especially all the grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Creassie Durham, her husband of 62 years, James O. Puckett; and her eleven brothers and sisters. Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Jo Evelyn Smith (Buddy) and Linda Allen (Leroy); four grandchildren, Leann Kocon, Stacy Lambert (Paul), Jason Smith (Candace), and Amy Owens (Ben); thirteen great grandchildren, Courtney Kocon, Nick Kocon, Nate Kocon, Alyssa Kocon, Clay Lambert, Ryan Lambert, Kara Lambert, Allen Lambert, Brooklyn Preston, Chloe Beshears, Peighton Smith, Lily Grace Owens, and Gabby Owens; two great-great grandsons, Nolan Miller and Klyde Kocon, and many other family members and friends. Services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with a Celebration of Life Visitation, Monday, September 10, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm; a funeral service Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 10:00am followed by her burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, Alabama.
