James Samuel Knight age 65, (Sammy Jr., as he was known by those who knew him) went to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 9, 2018. He was born to Sam Walter Knight and Mildred Violet Knight on July 8, 1953. Sammy was born into a family that loved him immensely.

It is hard enough to write a final tribute for a man but how do you write one for one of God’s angels that He chose to live amongst us. Generally, for a man you would tell about the accomplishments he achieved over a lifetime,… Read More » marriage, children, work, etc. But, for an angel like Sammy Jr., he had so many facets to his life.

It is really hard to explain who he was and the gifts he shared with all of us who had the privilege to know him. Sammy Jr., remembered everyone he met. If you met him, you would do the same.

He had an infectious laugh, enjoyed working with his hands, painting, building many crafts and bowling. He enjoyed watching old TV shows (i.e. Andy Griffith Show, Westerns, Gilligan’s Island and many more). He was very protective of his tools and took meticulous care of them.

He was all these things and more. You would just have to have met him to understand. Our time with him will never have been enough.

He is survived by his sister Belinda Brady (Tucker) Pickerington, Ohio, his sister Tish Cline (Freddie) Franklin, Tennessee, his brother Tony Knight (Susan) Scott Depot, West Virginia, and numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Princess. Visitation will be at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan, WV Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 12:00 – 1:30 with services to follow. Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens, Godby, West Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St, Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
