Mr. Samuel Myers, Jr. was born on February 15, 1948 in Effingham, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Samuel, Sr. and Christine Gregg Myers. He departed this life on Sunday, January 20, 2019.

“Sam,” as he was affectionately called, was educated in the public schools of Florence County, and was a 1968 graduate of Wilson High School. He later enlisted and proudly served in the United States Army, in which he was Honorably Discharged after being injured in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, Sam worked several factory jobs until he later decided to follow his passion as a car mechanic.

He loved to rebuild cars and trucks to race at the racetrack. He leaves to cherish his memory: his children: Valerie (Morris) Baker, Michelle Burch and Nina Mae Dunham, all of Florence, SC; grandchildren: Shaquana Myers, Destiney Baker, Joshua Perry and Justine Perry; great-grandson, Christian Myers; special grandchildren: Richard and Shannon Burch; brothers: Alvin (Andloras) Myers, Sr. of Conway, SC; Cuttno (Beryl) Myers, Sr. of Effingham, SC; and Eric Davenport of Washington, DC; sisters, Lucinda M. Davenport of Upper Marlboro, MD and Martha M. Hawkins of Effingham, SC; one uncle, Jackie Brown of Florence, SC; aunts, Janice Cusack of Pamplico, SC and Pearline Weeks of Philadelphia, PA; special nephew, Arthur Hawkins, Jr; and a host of nieces, other nephews, cousins and friends, all whom will miss him dearly.
