Life’s Reflections Saturah “Terri” Jean Martin, age 86, passed away on March 7, 2019 in Kansas City Missouri. She was born on August 28, 1932 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to George Martin and Romania (Cosby) Martin. Terri grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 1950. After high school, she attended Zion College in Chattanooga before moving to Kansas City, Missouri to pursue a career in nursing. In Kansas City, she graduated from General Hospital II in 1956 and had a rewarding ten-year nursing career.

In 1966, after graduating from Avila College, she began her teaching career with Kansas City Public School District, where she worked for thirty-eight years before retiring in 2004. She continued to volunteer with the school district, her church and community. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa Inc. sorority.

She was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s parish and recently shared a loving fellowship with Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church. Terri was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Spencer Martin and John Martin, Sr.; sister, Georgella Greene. She is survived by her son, Byron Keith Martin (Samira); her sister, Phillis Ann White; sister-in-law, Annie Pearl Martin; her grandchildren, Tameka Nicole Martin; Byron Laron Martin (Kendra); Whitney Lashae Walker; Saturah Grace Gleaves; Brandon Keith Martin and Ka’Necia Saturah-Janese Martin; eleven great grandchildren; scores of nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
