Sharla’s Obituary Sharla Garrett, 61, of Pierre, SD, died on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 in Sioux Falls, SD, at Avera McKennan Hospital. A Celebration of Life gathering will be at Drifters on Monday February 25th starting at 7pm. Memorial services will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, February 26th at Lutheran Memorial Church in Pierre.

Sharla Joy Garrett was born July 10, 1957 to Ronald and Margaret (Moore) Juhnke in Pierre. She grew up on the family farm south of Vivian and that is where she developed her love of animals and the outdoors. She attended Lyman County Schools enjoying various activities such as 4H and cheerleading.

After graduating high school she went on to attend college at Black Hills State. While at home from college one summer playing softball she met the love of her life Brad Garrett. After graduating from college she married Brad in Pierre on April 24, 1982 at the First United Methodist Church.

They made their home on a farm north of Pierre where they raised their two children before moving to town in 2002. Sharla loved being a grandma and spending time with her grandbabies. She was a lover of all animals and enjoyed camping and country music, especially Keith Urban.

Sharla is survived by her husband Brad Garrett, her son, Torey (Christina) Garrett and grandchildren; Sawyer and Brooks, her daughter, Kirsti (Kyle) Cuppy and grandchildren; Karsyn, Rowe and Henson all of Pierre. She is also survived by her mother, Margaret Juhnke of Vivian, brothers; Randy (Doris) Juhnke of Chamberlain, Jerry (Dianne) Juhnke of Oklahoma, Kent (Sandy) Juhnke of Vivian, mother in law Betty Garrett of Pierre, brothers in law, Jeff and (Polly) Garrett of Spearfish, Michael (Barbara) Garrett of Colorado and sister in law, Dawn (Nick) Kaiser of Oklahoma. Sharla was preceded in death by her father Ronald Juhnke, father in law Glen Garrett, nephews Cole Juhnke and Paul Stahl, and niece Kim Juhnke.
