Sharon’s Obituary Sharon Kay (Jordan) Evans was born on May 8, 1941 in Pampa, Texas to Lloyd Everett Jordan and Pauline Lucille (Adams) Jordan. She passed into God’s loving arms on January 25, 2019 at the age of 77. Sharon went to school in White Deer, Texas and later attended West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas.
She worked as a waitress for her parents at the Corner Café in Skellytown, Texas and this is where she met Bruce C. Evans, who would later become her husband. She eventually began working for Cabot Corporation as a key punch operator. On December 15, 1960, Sharon married Bruce Evans and they celebrated fifty-eight wonderful years together filled with love and adventure.
In November of 1962, Sharon and Bruce left Texas and moved to the family farm in Lindsay, Oklahoma where she lived the remainder of her life. In the early years of living in Lindsay she dedicated her time to raising a family and helping to run the homestead. Sharon was a loving wife, caring mother, and a good friend.
Later in life, Sharon pushed the boundaries of that time by becoming the first female bus driver for the Lindsay Public Schools and later, the first female rural mail carrier in Lindsay. Sharon loved the Lord and had a passion for people. Her two most prevalent God-given spiritual gifts were teaching and mercy.
She was a passionate teacher at the Erin Springs Baptist Church, She taught Sunday School for many decades and was also involved in the Girls in Action (GAs). Sharon was also very empathetic to those in need and to those who were hurting. She never met a stranger and was very involved with visitation.
Sharon prayed for, supported, and loved so many people inside and outside of the church walls. She had a zealous passion for sharing Jesus with strangers. Everywhere she went she talked to people about Jesus’ saving grace.
She was a shepherd to many people who were starting their Christian walk as new believers. Many would not know Jesus without Sharon Evans. Sharon loved music of many genres but was especially fond of marches found in band music.
She enjoyed the outdoors and working in her large garden. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and being involved in their lives. But most of all she loved to visit with everyone that she came in contact with each and every day.
Sharon was a wonderful person who touched many lives. The memories of her good works will forever be cherished and remembered. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
Left to cherish Sharon’s memory is her loving husband Bruce Evans of Lindsay, Oklahoma, her two sons: Karl Evans and wife Brandi of Newcastle, Oklahoma and Daniel Evans and wife Tracy of Lindsay, Oklahoma, one brother: Charles “Chick” Jordan of Abilene, Texas, and six grandchildren: Jordan Darr and husband Jon of Norman, Oklahoma, Shellby Hyde and husband Jon of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Lauren Evans of Norman, Oklahoma, Lyndon Evans of Newcastle, Oklahoma, Hayden Evans, and Kambri Evans of Lindsay, Oklahoma. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents: Lloyd and Pauline Jordan, and one brother: Donald Jordan. Funeral Services to honor the life of Sharon is set to begin at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Erin Springs Baptist Church in Erin Springs, Oklahoma with Clay Hicks officiating.
She will be laid to her final rest at the Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma following the service. Services are under the direction of Scott and Angel Wilbourn of Boydston-Wilbourn Funeral Home in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.
