Obituary for Sheldon (Beano) Kayne Munk Sheldon (Beano) Kayne Munk, age 68, passed away on July 15, 2018, in South Jordan, Utah, from pancreatic cancer. Born May 31, 1950 to J. (Mack) McPherson and Floy Peterson Munk. Married Nancey Hunter in Murray, Utah, Aug.
22, 1975 and was later divorced. They had two children, Matt and Luke. Sheldon grew up in Taylorsville, Utah, and attended Plymouth Elementary, Valley Jr. High, Granger High School, and Utah State University.
He served an LDS mission to New Zealand. He was an avid sports fan. He played baseball and basketball as a youth.
He loved teaching Matt and Luke baseball, coaching both their teams, and taking them to ballgames, camping, BBQ’s, and the aviary. Into his senior years, he enjoyed going to his great-nephews’ football games. His TV was usually tuned to some kind of game and he wasn’t happy if he didn’t have the sports section of the newspaper to read each morning.
He loved to read and listen to books on tape. Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn were among his favorites. In his younger years, he actually could read a book, watch TV, and listen to a game on the radio at the same time.
He loved and appreciated his caring friends – friends who took him to doctor appointments, to the store, and ran errands for him when he could no longer drive – friends who spent time visiting with him, talking to him on the phone, who added joy to his life, and to a special friend who encouraged him to become the man he could be. For the past nine-plus years he lived with friends at Brighton House in South Jordan. “Sheldon was a ‘people person’ who cared about other’s feelings, finances, and happiness.
He was the first to ask, ‘what can I do to help? ’ to give hugs when needed and always showed unconditional love”. He kept them laughing with his shenanigans.
He celebrated their birthdays and holidays with bottles of sparkling cider. He loved candy, popsicles, berry shakes, and pies (especially key lime) and greatly appreciated the delicious food served there. Many thanks to the residents and employees who were his special family who loved and cared for him.
Thanks, as well, to Tender Care Hospice for the loving care given by them. Survived by his sons, Matt Munk and Luke (Heather) Munk; granddaughter, Tatum; brother, Randell (Ginger) Munk; sisters, Leslie (Steve) Pratt, and Kathleen (Stephen) Bywater; Aunts, Mary Louise Sorensen, Margaret LuRae Munk; Uncle Lyle Munk and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
