Obituary for Ruland Mark Anthony Ruland Mark Anthony 1980-2018 Our dear brother and son, Ruland Mark Anthony left this world unexpectedly and returned home to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday July 4th, 2018. He leaves behind his devoted wife Mele as well as six young children: Seiaute, Olsen, William, Nani, Leeanne and Paki. He was born to Ethel and Mataese Mataese on May 15th,1980 in Salt Lake City, Utah and was lovingly raised by his parents, Bill Anthony and Pauline Cude in West Jordan, Utah.

He is also survived by his siblings: Caril, Laura, Leeanne, Brittaney, Olsen, Oliver and Steve. He spent his early school years in Perth, Australia with his father Bill, there his athleticism shone at an early age as a star baseball player for the region. He also excelled in math, basketball and anything to do with Sega.

He returned to America as a teenager and found his purpose when he met his best friend and love of his life Mele Tuitupou. They married in an LDS church in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 3rd, 1999 and Ruland was lovingly embraced by his in-laws Sosaia and Seiaute Tuitupou, Nani, Toa and Paki. He had an entrepreneurial spirit, was great at sales and worked off and on for many local sales companies.

When Ruland’s health kept him at home, he took care of his children. He loved good food and enjoyed cooking for his wife. He also loved socializing, laughing and music, but most of all, he was a deep thinker and lifelong learner.

He was constantly asking questions about everything and thrived on exploring and debating different viewpoints. He was sensitive, highly intelligent and passionate. Ruland, you were surrounded by family who loved you.

So many people love you and will miss you everyday. May God be with you till we meet again. Funeral Services are under the direction of Peni Malohifo’ou of Serenity Funeral Home Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 12th at the Kearns 13th LDS Chapel located at 5938 W 6200 S. A viewing will be held at 9am to 11:30am followed by funeral services at 12pm.
