OBITUARY Shirley Ann Sullins July 24, 1941 – December 26, 2018 Shirley Ann Sullins, 77, of Moss Bluff, passed peacefully on December 26, 2018, at Harbor Hospice in Lake Charles. Shirley was born in Nashville, TN on July 24, 1941 to the late Jesse and Mittie Clinton. She graduated from Westport High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1959.
In 1961, Shirley married George E. Sullins Sr., and they would have 6 children together. Shirley was happiest when gathered together with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved very dearly. During these various gatherings, Shirley would spend countless hours preparing her family’s favorite foods, especially pumpkin pie.
Shirley enjoyed sewing, reading and writing. She was also an excellent bowler throughout her life, receiving many team and individual trophies. She encouraged each of her children to take up the sport, and loved to watch and laugh as they competed against one another.
In addition to raising her children, Shirley spent a combined 25 years working for Beech Aircraft, and Northrop Grumman Corporations. She began her career as an aircraft assembler, and retired as a chemical crib attendant in 2006. Shirley was a member of the Moss Bluff Pentecostal church.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and one brother. She is survived by brothers, Wayne Clinton of Pitkin, Louisiana; Arnold Clinton of McMinnville, Tennessee; sons, Jay (Jennifer) Sullins of The Colony, Texas; Robert (Elda) Sullins of Houston, Texas; Paul (Marilyn) Sullins of Lake Charles; Russell (Reagan) Sullins of League City, Texas; Gary (Sonya) Sullins of Nederland, Texas; daughter, Scarlett Sullins of Lake Charles, many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. There will be a visitation at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Friday, December 28 from 4pm-8pm and resumes Saturday at 11am until time of service.
Funeral service will take place at the same location at 1:00pm on Saturday, December 29. Shirley will be laid to rest at Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff members of St. Patrick’s Hospital, Davita Dialysis, and The Kidney Clinic.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the nurses, aides, and administration of Harbor Hospice.
