Shirley Ann Wrightson, 68, of Westminster died suddenly November 8, 2018 at Carroll Hospital Center from cardiac complications. Born on March 30, 1950 she was the daughter of the late Arthur Norris and Mary Carmelita Valianti Caple, Sr She was the wife of Dr. Bruce W. Moore, whom she married on January 1, 1988.

She was a graduate of St. John High School, class of 1968. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Villa Julie College, and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education… Read More » from Towson State. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, Carroll Post 31 and the Women of the Moose Lodge.

She loved plants, wild birds, small animals and dogs. She was a football fan and her favorite player was Drew Brees. Shirley recently retired from the Carroll County Board of Education; where she was a teacher for 38 years at William Winchester Elementary School.

During her retirement she continued to substitute teach at different schools. She attended Sandymount United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brother, Jerry Thomas Caple of Westminster; and many close friends.

She was predeceased by her brother Arthur Norris Caple, Jr. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 2 to 6 p.m., at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd, Westminster. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sandymount Church Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Carroll County Humane Society, 2517 Littlestown Pike Westminster, MD 21158.
