SHIRLEY’s Obituary Vero Beach, Florida-Shirley M. Carter, age 94 died peacefully at home on February 27, 2019 with her loved ones by her side. Mrs. Carter was born in Amsterdam, New York. She moved to Freehold, New Jersey and resided there until retiring to Vero Beach, Florida.

Mrs. Carter was a graduate of Freehold Boro High School, Class of 1942. She was a telephone operator for Bell Telephone in Freehold, NJ. In retirement, Shirley enjoyed many years of traveling, going on cruises, shopping and eating out at her favorite restaurants.

Shirley especially loved spending her summers at The Jersey Shore, specifically Manasquan, NJ. She enjoyed many days at her favorite spot at the beach. Family and friends would always know where to find Shirley and Fred in Manasquan.

Shirley was a member of The Pathway Church, Vero Beach and loved to socialize with her beloved “Church Family”. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Shirley is survived by her Granddaughter Stacey Collins and husband Rickie Collins, Brunswick, Georgia, Granddaughter Jacey Cofer, Dallas, Texas, Five Great-Grandchildren and three, Great-Great Grandchildren, nieces Carole McDonald, Lynne Christen, Janine Prochnow, Tracey Bruseski, Janis Gruber, Sheila Itinger, Joann Blackwell and Elizabeth Patterson.

Her beloved caretakers Patricia Griffin, Haydee Phillips and Elizabeth Standiford. Shirley was pre-deceased by her Beloved husband Frederick Carter and her daughter Nancy M. Carter and Sister Jean M. Anderson. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to The American Brain Tumor Association (not sure of address) 2720 River Road, Suite 146, Des Plaines, Illinois 60018 in Memory of Nancy M. Carter.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM, Tuesday March 5th, 2019 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach. Services will begin at 4 PM in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will be held in Fountainhead Memorial Park in Palm Bay.
